JBL L56 Speakers

James B. Lansing...need I say more? This is the 2nd pair of these in the "family." I replaced a pair of Marantz 3-ways with these. I must say, I was skeptical at first. I practically worship Mr. Lansing, but c'mon. It's a 3-way vs. a 2-way speaker. Well, 5 minutes after hooking them up I was sold. My brother*, Jeff, kept telling me how much better off I'd be with a set of the L56s over my current setup. I'm currently just using them off a Vintage Marantz MA530 which provides sound from the radio and my computer. So, let the record be set, Jeff was right...this time. Grrrrr! Anyway, on with the show!

These will most likely end up in a 5.1 (6.1? 7.1?) home theater setup as soon as I have the funds and space to facilitate that. However, in their current configuration they are plenty loud and clear enough to aggervate the next door dwellers with little to no effort. Mr. Lansing, let me applaud you again for the simple things in life. :) *applauds* ... Over the Marantz I find that my highs are more clear and the speakers project more of a "flat" sound. If that's the apropriate word. What I'm trying to say, is that in the spirit of the JBL way and the old 4312A studio monitors, the sound that is put into these comes right out of them. Today's home theater buyers apparently want BASS BASS BASS. So new speakers just add all kind of low frequency rumble to the room and it's "cool." To all you non-believers out there, just "feeling" the sound doesn't mean it's a good speaker.

Well, I suppose I can't leave you guys with out a picture of one of these naked...so enjoy this!

Mr. Lansing, may you rest in peace...'cause my neighboors sure won't,
Dave
